I've spent most of today playing "bar skittles".
It's an easy game to play - you just swing or throw a ball and it hits the skittles on the tabletop. Gets kinda hard once your down to two skittles - but with a bit of planning it can still be very effective (at passing the time).
Sometimes the owner of the biggest skittles gets very annoyed - not being used to people trying to knock over skittles on their table, although they've certainly been known to knock over skittles on other peoples.
They've been so annoyed recently that they've threatened to over-rule the landlord's rules and start throwing balls onto tables in the middle of the pub just in case they decide to buy some balls of their own.
It's strange that even though everyone in the pub feels sympathy for their problems with the skittles, that they are destined to keep throwing balls and putting down their drinks on the tables of the other people who were so fed up of it in the first place.
