I hade a booking today at 2pm made by pro sub, regular Client turns up early. So the bookings going ahead, I think. I try calling sub to advise client arrived. No response, call many times. Client then gets text from sub saying "sorry not well". So I have, irrate client, heated unused dungeon. Sub then texts me "away at coast with family" . So do I need to take deposits from everybody?

Sounds like you may have to

Presumably, when you decided to open a dungeon you'd done your research on "now shows" "how to be paid" "will I be able to get enough paying customers in my area" etc etc etc. I am aware that it's a steep learning curve when starting something in the BDSM arena (and, indeed, elsewhere)

I'm gonna sound a bit hard here (I wish at my age) but, in the end, it's your business and you are going to have to make some hard nosed decisions

while I understand that clients who do not turn up may be a problem, I think it's a different matter with pros renting the space and not turning up. You will know them and I assume that they would be interested in being able to have access to your premises in the future.

Charge a no-show fee on the next rental and if he/she is not happy with that then bon voyage :)

Interesting. I wonder if the client in question will spot this thread? :)

Try. Just a little bit harder.

OMG that's awful! I'd like to point out it wasn't me readers! I've only cancelled 1 client in the whole of last year when I had a very bad cold and had to get up at 6am to travel to London, the booking was late morning so he still had 4 hrs notice and we rescheduled the following week, the venue is that busy they already had a girl wanting my booked time.

When a client cancels I always try and give 24hr cancellation to The_Facility where I work, I'd be expected to pay the fees still if it's my fault where I don't turn up! If she was serious about coming back to yours she'd offer to pay your rental with the next booking.

I've checked out your site and will be memoing you to ask about using you as a venue for clients when I visit London as I've heard some good reviews about your place.

Pro submissive & switch with great dungeon & LOTS of toys!

Well it is a hard way to learn but it is how I learned.

You need a cancellation policy which applies to all bookings. Treat all customers in the same way (have no favorites treat all equally well).

Here is our cancellation policy...

My experience as a teacher was that if you expect your students to behave well and set very high standards both by expectation and example they generally do behave well. This seems to apply to dungeon hirers as well!

It's hard work though.

Good Luck.

I have read and reread this post a number of times and I can't help thinking that you are doing all the sorting out and trying to pull things together.

You hire your premises out....end of! why are you trying to pacify irate people because of someone elses cock up? As I see it, you should get a deposit from whoever makes the booking, other than collecting the balance from that person you should have no other imput.....or maybe some will see it as you are pimping out subs/Dommes.

The contract to play is between the two people involved. Whoever is hiring your space, should then secure a deposite with whoever has booked with them if they think they may be a no show. Stop being piggy in the middle.

So in short....yes, charge a deposite no matter who they are. Anyone who is serious will understand and accept that this is your policy.

(By the way, when I have visited someone who was good - evn if not right for me - I always send them a good write up for their site. There have been one or two who were not honest about what they were, should I name and shame them on sites like this, and play God with their livelihoods?)

No. You should write a review for a reputable site that encourages reviews and allows the opportunity for the Mistress concerned to tell her side of the story.

In answer to the rest of your post we know the difference between timewasters and clients who ask questions to assess compatibility. Clients who assess compatibility NEVER claim that they are genuine and not a timewaster, they just ask questions.
