Question for the girls about getting one's hair coloured.

I have an appointment this morning to have my hair coloured, but I had it cut last weekend. Will they wash it before they colour it? Should I wash it this morning before I go?

Whenever I have had mine done I haven't washed it before going and they haven't either - they usually put the colour onto dry hair as it is more absorbent . What colour are you having ??? Hope you like it !! :-D

As above- don't wash it first. It's ususally put onto dry hair.

It's more they apply it to dirty hair so the colour takes. :-)

Good luck!

I have ALWAYS washed and dried my hair before having it coloured as every hairdresser I've had has said if there's a barrier there (grease or dirt etc) the colour won't necessarily absorb as well. I only need mine doing twice a year so seems to work for me.

Yeah, that's why I asked. I was nodding when I read rebel_angel's post, and if you read the instructions of diy hair dye's it says to apply to slightly dirty hair - don't wash it first. It takes better to slightly dirty hair. But ...??

I will phone the hair dressers at 9 when they open.

Yeah probably best, I think if it's been washed in the last 36 hours it's fine generally but I developed the habit of doing it in the morning a few hours before I go cos then it's not squeaky clean by the time I get there, but it's not manky either.
