I'm trying to think of archetypes in O&P relationships. By archetype, I mean a kind of idealised character or type that real people resemble to some significant degree.
Some examples for D-types could be:
For s-types:
Can you think of any more?

I'm struggling a bit with the Dom archetypes you're suggesting as I don't see how they relate to a Dom role in the same way the sub ones obviously do to a sub role. Certainly I can see Dom roles which would pair to the sub ones you've suggested - the Sultan/Harem Master and the Lord of the Manor (for the Butler) - but I can't see how a sub archetype would match up to your Dom roles. First of all, I'm still exploring this idea, but I don't think they have to match, certainly not in a one-to-one correspondence in the sense of Master and slave.
The individuals need to be compatible of course. :T: www.tanos.org.uk

I wasn't assuming they had to match - I just meant that I didn't really see how the archetypes you suggested were "dominant", in the sense that they were archetypes which paired well with a submissive. I'm tired so probably not thinking too clearly, but what I'm driving at is that it seems to me that there's a few models for a D/s relationship - leader/follower, served/servant, jailer/victim, etc. The Prophet I can fit to that model, but I'm not clear how the Artist and the Organiser would relate to a sub in a way which is emblematic of their archetype. The Magickian, the Knight and the Wise Old Man as D types;
Maybe Sleeping Beauty as an s type?

The Teacher, the Trainer and the Parent as D types. The mother hen (and that is gender independent, there are definitely male mother hens about) and the nurse as s types.
