I am going to try and not make this news sound like I am big-headed but the request I have just had still has me in disbelief.
I started chatting to a guy on OKCupid a while ago. He is based in the same town as me and it was a consideration we would meet. We added each other to FB in Oct as we both left OKC and continued chatting. He then went to South Africa for a holiday and I went to Thailand. We never did meet.
He would reply to my updates, and I to his music. Today he called me and this afternoon he made a request of me that blew me away.
He works with a company that supports people in the community. Some of these people need help to get out and about and general socialising. He has asked me to go in and give a little talk to a group on my trip away as he says I am inspirational in my thinking and what I have done to my life in the past 6 months or so.
Never done anything like this before and I am bloody shitting myself. Just hoping the usual Gobby Geordie takes over.
A nice twist to what has been a flippen awful day so far.

I have chaired meetings and given presentations as a manager but never given a full on talk about myself. Think I will just wing it with minimal notes. Be much more natural, and much more me! It is not what you say or do but the way you say or do it | |

I've done quite a lot of public speaking, and that's always what works best for me. In my experience, people always respond best to the personal - be yourself and you can't go wrong! All the best for a great talk...
