I was just in the lift at work and I noticed the sign saying max capacity 13 people, 1000 kg. Not a problem, except the lift can't be much more than 5 foot across.
13 people in a 5 x 5 space, now that's a party. But is it possible, and how thin do the people need to be?
I'll try and get a more accurate measurement today if I can.

To remain under the weight limit each individual would have to be under 12 stone or 169 lbs. I myself an not too far away from that and I don't consider myself to be fat in relation to the size of the general population. if they went in in this sort of fashion: //// ///// //// Voila! :D
The short answer : They'd all have to be about a size 12 "This is my word and as such, is beyond contestation" - The Black Prince. | |

The entire world's population could only fit on the Isle of Wight if they were four deep. It is 384 square Km and each person should be able to fit into .24 square metres meaning 1.597 billion people could fit in. This is one of these facts which were true once, yet hasn't kept up with the population in its retelling. If it was being updated Skye would fit the bill until the population hits 6.9 billion. A rough measurement of the lift, and it is about 1.5 meters by 1.5 meters, so 2.25 sq meters / .24 = 9.3 people. Maybe 13 children? Bored now. You say Ouch like it's a bad word. |
