Watching TV this morning, and was struck by the number of times they made reference to being “forced into submission”. It wasn't a relevant (to IC) topic, but it set my thinking about how words take on greater significance depending on context.
I'm no lover of 'forced' submission, and yet the word certainly has that connotation, in its dictionary definition. Strange the way that the mind works, and how powerful words can be to set the mind wandering. I shall never watch the BBC Breakfast review of the papers in quite the same way again!
