Is there A need for a proper fetish club in cardiff or even swansea.. And by that I mean a club where you can dance as well as play.../socialize.. I'm tired of traveling to London , Birmingham..
I know there are some clubs in Bristol .. but traveling there and back is a problem (I don't drive)At least in London and Birmingham the clubs are on the front door. literally in the case of the BBB.... Most people I talked to at pedastal in London last night were shocked I travel so far for clubs ? Personally I would love it if there was one as I travel down to Swansea/Cardiff fairly frequently and was sad to see there doesn't appear to be much going on aside from in Bristol. I know several of my friends down there would also definitely be up for attending. | |

It needs somebody to invest both time and money in starting one up. I have heard it mentioned that the licensing laws in Cardiff are particularly strict (eg: in strip clubs, the girls are only allowed to go topless, not fully nude), which may account for the lack of a traditional club. For those who aren't aware, wild desires which is just outside of Cardiff has some very good nights and they are advertised on the board. In general, I think it's important to note that it's no use people moaning that there isn't a club if no-one is prepared to do something about it. | |

No they definitely go completely nude in strip clubs in Cardiff - though only in private afaik. | |

If you think you have nothing going on there think of us in the middle of nowhere (i.e. north wales) am bloody 49 miles from nearest night club (I think is The Town hous) and dont have a car! getting there involves 2 trains and ataxi ride! anyhow, good luck if you thinking in setting up something, and please let me know if you do. I might be courageous enough to brave the 4 and half hours train journeys across middle earth.. erm wales.

The only way to find out Clio is to organise an event yourself. Find a suitable venue advertise it and see who turns up. Wild Desires is near Cardiff? Swamp in Bristol is only an hour from Cardiff Pedestal in London is almost 3 hours?

Hmmm, Cardiff, always a tricky one!!! I say this because I am thirty plus years in the scene, have lived in cardiff most of my life and have seen numerous clubs come and go. Sadly, Cardiff is more of a big town than a city, and because of the strange demographic, in that many people travel into work from the surrounding areas, it is often dead mid week. It is hard to find decent venues on weekends and the truth of the matter is, there has never been sufficient critical mass to sustain a quality club long term. Naturally, I also frequented the various Bristol clubs over the years with my partners - I recall going to the first Spank for example - but Bristol too is struggling to sustain a quality dedicated club. The Bristol Fetish Market does a stirling job but I would argue that outside London, the halcyon days of the 80 and 90's have disappeared. Generations change and have different needs and desires. I sort of dropped out of the scene when I felt it just became dance clubs with rubber. That's not to say that it wouldn't be great to revisit that old more specialist scene but Cardiff is not the place to do it I'm afraid. Bristol is a better bet and I commend all those putting in considerable effort to keep the scene alive, but Cardiff on the other hand would be a much bigger task. | |

Ah, but I forgot Club O didn't I!!! There seems to have been some ups and downs with the venue/owners as far as I can tell - I haven't been yet - but my friends in Bristol are hopeful the night will take hold and burgeon? I wish it luck, but I am still despairing of Cardiff ever getting its own regular night. Bristol is close though, and dare I say the the fact it can be more productive in this area, like many others, shows why Cardiff still has a lot of catching up to do as a city in general. | |
