So how do I really feel about Valentines day?
It's impossible to ignore.
Like a lot of people I tend to be dismissive and sneer at the fake, enforced romanticism of it all. There just doesn't seem enough thought put into it.
However, if it makes someone feel loved and adored.....then it's a great thing. I rather envy those who can appreciate a single red rose, brought round in a bucket in a pub. I just can't.
For all that I see wrong in the day.......I get a little hurt inside if it's not acknowledged at all.
My thoughts (and lady parts) leap to beatings, the win win blow job/face fuck scenario and general sexy times.
My shy & secret places tell me other things too. Demanding not to be forgotten, ignored.
'Please, please don't forget.... touches, words, gestures...of love' ![]()
I'm a girl aren't I.

....now theres a funny thing. For me, its about situation.
Two years ago I was still in a relationship I didnt want to be in any more. It made things like Christmas and Valentines (when people have expectations) a little uncomfortable.
A year ago I was just out of it, but only just, and the dust hadnt settled.
This year.... well I still dislike the faux-sentimentalism, I find the commercial rush as disgusting as that at Christmas. But I might send a card (not necessarily shop-bought). I think too much, therefore I am a twat. | |

Nice spoonerism! It reminds me of the old album by Caravan - Cunning stunts. Like you I have mixed feelings about Valentine's Day - in many ways it has become commercialised and soppy, but in its true essence, as a celebration of love, it's still very meaningful and can have a lot of significance for some people. Valentines is everyday not once a year....personally i'll be giving it a miss , for me love has more to do with eating tomato and marmite sandwiches someone has made for you- just because..... than it will ever have to do with chocolate and flowers |
