Well i was inspired by the idea of a valentine's day tawes this i made for Misstress this morning http://www.flickr.com/photos/mastersleathercraft... the handle is shaped so as the hand grip's perfectly the edge's are all scived and sanded then edge sealed ,, made from a veg-tan 3.5 mil leather then once all completed lanolin neetsfoot oiled then a beeswax combo polish that i make myself Please excuse crap spelling cause i,m rubbish Edited 27 Jan 11, 1:36 PM by MisstressvsSolicedog | ||

Aw thanks, nice comments,,, i do sell ,, generaly i make on request or will offer if someone is needing something quick, i don't generally have set design's it makes each piece more personal and also leave's the buyer open to have possible add's to the design so's it is a personal piece to them,, i send pic's of the makeing also so there is a history with it,, i like to think that cost's are reasonale to each piece, i won't ever go over what i,ve quoted (provided a whole load of extra work has'nt been asked for after cost's are agreed) Please excuse crap spelling cause i,m rubbish | ||

Speaking as a sadist (it's my job You can buy them quite inexpensively on eBay (c£15-£20)even though they are hand made. Be careful though - even a small one (say 6 inches) can deliver a very, very painful smack and a long one (say 24 inches) can be devastating.

Our strriup butt tawses will be heavier than other leather tawses which are the same thickness. This is because the butt is wax dipped to take the grease content from 5% to 30%. This gives a more stingy feel and also helps the leather last a life time. Cheaper hides will dry and crack over time and the aniline finish shows all the natural characteristics of the leather rather than cheap pigmented hides which have an almost plastically look to them. The most popular weight is moderate. Our Lochgelly tawses also come in buffalo neck from the same tannery that JJ Dick used to buy from. The hides are 10mm thick but drummed softer to give a light feel to them than the stirrup butt. These are finished to a higher standard than the originals with the 2 tailed versions being more popular |
