Your original question was is there any jewish events around the Birmingham area, my question is what does someones faith have to do with BDSM it must be of some importance to you, as you are actively seeking to marry the two together.

The OP may well give their own answer, but one can postulate any number of reasons .... as an example of just one possible reason ; maybe they want an event that has catering that doesn't conflict with any religion-based dietary restrictions they have, perhaps?.

Cheers, Badg1.

I feel we don't need segregated munches but if you are an orthodox Jew then one of your principles of your faith is to beleive with perfect faith that God is the creater and Ruler of all things. he alone will make and will make all things...

In terms of practice, Orthodox Jews strictly follow the Written Torah and the Oral Law as interpreted by the Medieval commentators (Rishonim) and codified in the Codices (Rabbi Joseph Karo's Shulhan Arukh and Rabbi Moshe Isserlis's Mapah). From the time they get up in the morning until they go to bed at night, Orthodox Jews observe God's commandments concerning prayer, dress, food, sex, family relations, social behavior, the Sabbath day, holidays and more.

However Judaism means living the faith Almost everything a Jewish person does can become an act of worship. Because Jews have made a bargain with God to keep his laws, keeping that bargain and doing things in the way that pleases God is an act of worship. And Jews don't only seek to obey the letter of the law - the particular details of each of the Jewish laws - but the spirit of it, too. A religious Jew tries to bring holiness into everything they do, by doing it as an act that praises God, and honours everything God has done. For such a person the whole of their life becomes an act of worship.

So if the munch is on the Sabbath does that mean you will not attend...

However if you are not practing jewdishim then why worry about attending a munch, jewish or not and just meet people for what they are not because of their faith.

Oh god what on earth has that got to do with anything ? I am sure the last thing a jew needs is a lecture on you on something you refer to as "practing jewdishim" what ever the fuck that is....................

PS since your such an expert on all things jewish can you give me the inside track on if ZZ top are a Beth Din tribute band?

yet again i have to ask this question what does religion have to do with BDSM?

I'm not sure whether you're questioning why I made my post in the 1st place, or why others have responded the way they have, but I thought I'd explained where I'm coming from in my last post on this thread.

Judaism is different to many religions in that it's also/or about ethnic or cultural identity - which is what it is for me, not about religious beliefs. There are plenty of Jewish atheists around.

My BDSM leanings are another part of me. If I can meet people who I share BOTH those with then that would be great. This DOESN'T mean that I don't want to meet & be friends with non Jewish people.

Kazare, if BDSM is about anything it should be about freedom of expression. Dont feel the need to explain who you wanna mix with to a group of people who clearly havent read your original post and dont know a jot about you or your religion!

After looking on the web it would seem that many jewish sites are out there that meet your needs .I thought this site was for BDSM and not just splinter groups for the jewish ,We should stick to the main aims of the site and not start to split off in small groups that is aimed at religions, instead put religion out of the site and where it belongs in your own thoughts

What a complete load of pompous twaddle! Why dont you stick your thoughts about this site is for in your own head and respect the fact that people will use this site in different ways.

Maybe you need to set up your own munch for anti-semites, that is obviously your hobby.

The above is a quote from black orchid my dear nothing could be further from the truth.

Insecurity? I don't think so, sensitive to the needs of others absolutely! However, you are entitled to your view, so think what you like. The manner of your repudiation does little for the credibility of your position and pompous arrogance coupled with childish put downs is seldom a good substitute for a well thought out argument

A silly note on a profile can be changed with a key stroke but sadly attitudes are often too deeply embedded in the psyche.

Why not set up a BDSM group in a religious site?

I have spent too many years witnessing the effects of religion, the abuse, manipulation and discrimination by individuals who frequently show themselves as being caring and “holier than thou” I'm not comparing you or anyone here with them, but the abuse meted out in the name of religion has shaped my views

In this community I have always thought that there was no place for that type of hypocrisy, after all, some of us have our own hypocrisies that are much more fun

So, if my initial reaction offended you – Good! In my view you need to understand that some people think religious activity on this site is repugnant. Yes it is a site where freedom of expression is paramount that includes dissenters as well! There are many support groups here and many good people to help you find what you seek, but maybe next time you might consider your message in the light of some of the responses to your original post.

I'm new to the B'ham 'scene' & am hoping there's other Jewish kinksters in B'ham.

If so, I'd like to hear from you :-)

Nope. I can't find any problem with anyone wanting to seek out people who share common interests. Why would anyone respond so negatively to a post like that?
