Hi Squeezed Melon, You can browse tons of decks here Aeclectic Tarot and here Tarot Garden. You might want to start out with the Rider Waite pack or a Rider Waite clone Click Here as a lot of books written for beginners are based around this deck... the symbols are clear and easy to learn too. Have a look at the post entitled "Tarot for Beginners"... the links there might be helpful especially the link to "Learning the Tarot by Joan Bunning". It's a free online course and you can study independently, at your own pace.
Let us know how you get on and if you get stuck just add a post, either myself or one of the other members will be happy to help Kind regards, Miss Liberty

Hi Squeezed Melon. Miss Liberty is spot on suggesting the Rider Waite deck as an introduction to reading Tarot. You may also wish to take a look at 'The Gilded Tarot' Barbara Moore, with artwork by Ciro Marchetti. It's based on the Rider Waite deck. The depictions of the concepts behind each card are truly beautiful. The accompanying book is very informative for the beginner. I bought my set at Waterstones so it should be easy enough to get hold of.
Good luck & enjoy.
