Did you have a Christmas tree? Did you callously take it down and either throw it out or return it to the loft/shed? You heartless, heartless cruel thing!
Christmas trees have feelings too! I work in a refuge for trees who have been left, deserted by their owners. Once the excitement of Christmas is gone, and the children have eaten all the sweets from the tree - many people just seem to think it's ok to leave the tree unfed and unloved out on the street, or even dump them in the bins!
Don't you realise the pain and suffering these poor creatures go through? Why only the other day I was in a heavy councilling session with some mid-sized connifers who had such terrible tragic stories to tell.... It broke my heart!
One of them had even tried becoming a rent-tree just to find a some warmth and at least a little company!
Trying to build up these poor shrubs confidence after months of abuse and neglect can be extremely difficult and emotionally draining for their councillor. Some of our sessions can last for hours. I've seen a Douglas Fir reduced to tears after bearing it's soul to the group.
So, how do you feel now? You callous, heartless tree dumpers?!?!?!
I hope you're ashamed!
