I've just come in from outside and it's a few minutes past the actual time of the solstice, the full moon is shining brightly in a cloudless sky about 14 hours after the total lunar eclipse and there's about 30 cm of snow everywhere – on each branch and twig of the trees, all over the ground and covering up the cars and roofs of houses. It's perhaps the most 'classic' winter I can ever remember - what a beautiful night! I hope others are enjoying it as much as I am!

Thank you and to you too. I know what you mean about being a 'classic winter', I have brought out of retirement some cold weather kit I used when living in Norway and have been walking at every opportunity since friday. Sadly while the snow deadens the sound and enhances the landscape, it also highlights the muck and crap our cars chuck out.
