Guests from other areas have been having to leave Friday PlaySpace parties early to catch the last trains home.
So, I thought I would check and see if there are any minibus drivers here! This applies to transport to and from - London, Southampton, Reading and maybe other places. On Sunday parties in particular, I thought it would be nice to invite the FemDom Munch Ladies, but I haven't yet as I know many of them don't drive.
I realise the chances are pretty slim there are any drivers with busses here, but you never know! Please, if you post something particularly pertinent, could you memo me also? As this post gets older I will probably not see it. Thank you! "Strip!"

Tis difficult due to drivers hours regulations and employers not liking their drivers using minibuses for private purposes due to said regulations, sorry to say. Supplier of classic motor omnibuses for weddings and all sorts of events in the south of England.

Ah...I thought there might be some independents around. "Strip!"

Even an independent would be losing at least a days pay to ferry people around. You can drive for nine hours a day, ten hours on two days a week. An 9 hour day would leave no spare driving time to ferry people to and from London/Southampton etc. The problem would also come the next day as you have to have 11 hours rest between shifts. If the club finishes after 3 and they drive for an hour to drop people off, then take half an hour to go home, they won't be able to drive again until 5pm the next day. All is explained here. What Bhonanza says, though the link is for goods vehicle drivers, the passenger vehicle drivers regs are virtually the same. The only way round the law is to try and get someone with a licenced private hire car or taxi with 8 seats, no drivers hours rules there. Please bear in mind professional drivers drive for a living; professional dommes domme for a living, and both would expect to be paid for their services! I has a similar enquiry from an event organiser on this forum when they suggested using a Routemaster bus for a fet event, nothing wrong with that, but when the practicalities were pointed out, the whole thing became almost unworkable because of the hours regs, and the fact I needed paying for use of the bus. I'd also suggest that to have one minibus to go from Guildford to Reading, Southampton and London would take about 8 hours at least! Err..ok...since it appears that I want a free bus for a round trip across the UK, I will explain what I was actually thinking. LOL *rolls eyes* I was thinking that perhaps there might be SEVERAL taxi drivers (the licensed private hire drivers) on here, in different towns, who could each pick up PAYING passengers from their local area, come to the party then go home again. The fare or petrol money contribution or whatever would be set by the driver or shared or whatever would be negotiated between him & the passengers in advance. I really don't know why people presume that because it is a Domme asking, she wants it for free. grrrr That has happened to me now a couple times and you can't really imagine how offensive it is, tbh. Not getting at you personally, but it isn't a nice generalisation. Of course, If I GOT all the free stuff people THINK Im asking for, rather than people saying no (or implying I want it free).... I might not mind as much being generalised every once in a while..... roflmao. I really was just checking for the benefit of people who have to use public transport. I don't think they would expect it to be free nor that the club pay for it.... "Strip!" Edited 20 Dec 10, 2:16 PM by Ama_Sidero

You originally asked for minibus drivers. Now you are asking taxi drivers to give lifts on the busiest nights of the week. Why don't you encourage people to post and say "I am coming from X, could anyone give me a lift?". Rohypnol means never having to say "Would you like another coffee?".

I think it is just confusion in terminology. I thought minibuses were those taxi's that held more people. And actually, while you make it sound unreasonable, if someone is an independant taxi/minibus/whatever you call it driver AND would like to go to a party, I don't think it is so unreasonable. It also isn't unreasonable that s/he would get paid for it. A taxi from here to Heathrow costs 65 pounds one way. Split 8 ways that is the same as train fare. They could negotiate what they wanted.
I will encourage offering lifts (and am in the process of arranging a section for it on the members area of the website), and hopefully people will do it. However, some people are reluctant to accept lifts with total strangers and it was an idea to make it more sociable, more accessible and less expensive for guests than an individual taxi or overnighting. It was just an idea to be helpful.....Some ideas are plausible. Some aren't. But you don't know unless you try, do you? "Strip!" Edited 20 Dec 10, 2:56 PM by Ama_Sidero

Again as Bohnanza says..Minibuses are more than 8 passenger seats, private hire cars/taxis are 8 or less passenger seats; different laws, different driving licences! sorry to be pedantic but it's a bit confusing for the end user, not for those who provide the service. It's easier for people to share a taxi/private hire car and no doubt you have a very good idea to try the sharing scheme via your posts. It's quite legal to share a cab, also nothing wrong with the driver attending the party if he wants to. Sorry about the generalisation, not intended! I hope your idea works.
