21 Ways to Read a Tarot Card by Mary K Greer
This book contains twenty-one techniques (weekly lessons) involving a variety of processes that help you to deepen your connection to the cards, I can't recommend it highly enough.
The Secret Language of the Tarot by Ruth Ann & Wald Amberstone
Teaches you how to translate the symbolism of any deck you choose to use. A great book for getting to know the Tarot better.
Tarot: Theory and Practise by Ly de Angeles
The author provides twelve structured units to work through. The information given isn't extensive but does provide a good starting point for those wishing to move on to more advanced studies. The book also provides an annotated biography and a reference section that includes books and internet sources.
Tarot Reversals by Mary K Greer
If you already use reversed cards or would like to learn how to use them then this is the book for you. The reversed interpretation includes a shamanic perspective and the interpretations given for upright cards are good too.Links

Osho Zen Tarot is a good-hearted, big-brained deck where it would always be pointless to strive too hard. Who needs obfuscation? Go with the flow. Skintwo.com Miss Makeover and Mark Ramsden blog markramsden.moonfruit.com

Although it's a little dark and probably not for the faint hearted Deviant Moon is a beautiful, slightly more complex deck. It's just worth having in your collection, if nothing else.

This and the Decameron Tarot are on my wishlist. A friend was kind enough to let me look through her Deviant Moon deck last year. You're right it is a little dark but some of the images made me laugh. I can't remember if that was because there's some dark humour in the artwork or if it was just my weird sense of humour at the time
