It is with regret, at this time Oblivion is having to take a break.
Stu and Nikki, owners of Club tease have been fantastic and have been fighting, both with their energy and money, for the past two years to keep the venue open. Sadly now Stu has had to resign to the fact that there will always be some individuals who don't like our kind and will do anything to keep us away from the public.
Due to Club Tease having to hang their coats Oblivion has, for the time being, no home.
I want to thank everyone who has made this club such a success. And I hope to be able to give you all some good news in time.
From myself, and everyone who has been able to help out over the years THANK YOU all.
Marina.

This is awful news, especially after all that has been done in getting the club going, attracting new members and making it such a success. I feel for everyone who has been involved in all the hard work, and for you it must be like a kick in the teeth. It makes me furious that the small minded MINORITY - as it would appear to be from the comments posted on the news article, have won a victory over people having fun. I loved this club. It was like being round a friends house, very welcoming, friendly, cozy, and most of all, somewhere that I felt completely able to go to on my own, knowing that I would always find friends there and feel safe. Being able to have a place to go where you can have fun and be yourself is so important, and I shall miss what I hope is only a temporary blip in the life of Oblivion. I'm sad now. I dont have a quote so I'll leave this bit blank...........cos I dont want to use up space till I have something really good to put here

It appears, from the article, the problem was because he went about it the wrong way. Instead of opening and asking for planning permission why didn't he approach the council first and say "This is what I want to do, have you any suggestions?". An increase in traffic is a valid reason for denying planning permission, especially after the event. Why don't cash machines have a Gamble button?

My heart goes out to Stu and Nikki, two wonderful people. Good luck finding a new home, I hope it goes well. You say Ouch like it's a bad word.

What a shame, I know you've spent a lot of time and effort getting that club running
The first rule of Brat Club, we don't talk about Brat Club...

I agree with everything Dora has said and it is very sad news. I loved this club too, as a single woman it is wonderful to have somewhere friendly, open and accepting to go to where you can dress up and hang out. Well done and thanks Marina for all the hard work xx
