A parting of ways... (24)

Bit of a sad one today...

Not sure how to start a blog like this! But, basically, Neil and I have decided to go our separate ways.

And I'm writing this here to let people who know/care about one or both of us know. And to say that, luckily, we are ok.

It's sad, we're both sad, and wish it didn't have to be this way, but we are ok. No-one's done anything wrong, upset, cheated or wronged the other. We still love each other and are best friends.

We pretty much came to realise how different the things we want from life are, and we didn't want to hold each other back from the things we always wanted.

It sort of took a while to realise these things because...well because we love each other so much, we just get on so crazily well, that they kinda got ignored for a while.

Could be worse reasons, right?

Neil has been my best friend for the last two years. And I feel unbelievably lucky that I met him, and even luckier that he still is my best friend and that we both want to stay close and support each other as we set off, once again, to explore the possibilities of the world.

So... wish us luck :)

Oh and here is what Neil has to say on the matter!

Im gobsmacked - didn't see that one coming. Big hugs to you both, and top marks for parting ways on good terms. xx

WOW! Shock!

When Purple Raven and I broke up, it was for similar reasons. We were best friends, but just not what each other needed. Our lives needed to go in different directions. We took about 2 months, in all, to slowly separate from lovers to best friends. We went from kissing, to hugging, to holding hands, to just being really good friends. Now we are sisters, and it is the best thing that happened to us.

You two are amazing people, love you both. xxxx

I must admit that when you posted this http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/posts/291052/ last night, it did occur to me.

Good wishes and good luck to both.

You both seem such lovely people, and I'm sure you'll be supportive of each other both and stay good mates, as you have both indicated that you wish to do.

Having read your previous blogs - it's not a total shock but rather sad nevertheless.

If you dont get it back together and stronger than before, be happy that you have each other as friends. There's enough acrimony in the world without losing your best friend as well.

Hmm, somewhat unexpected, but then I wasn't thinking about such things. But I know you've had struggles, not with each other, but more the absences and dealing with various things around it. So I'm not totally surprised but always thought of you two being together for life.

Anyway, I hope you both find happiness wherever life takes you. Good luck. x

True and genuine are only concepts and as such are meaningless. Try thinking in terms of compatibility instead.

a small piece of truth: I do not carry a sickle or scythe. I only wear a hooded black robe when it's cold. And I don't have those skull-like facial features you seem to enjoy pinning on me from a distance. You want to know what I truly look like? I'll help you out. Find yourself a mirror while I continue...
