I have to live in that harsh reality as well. One idiot on a bus who got my razor whip tongue for rudness and few nice comments from someone else later.

Nobody thinks TV and TS are the same. But we do have some discrimination in common and practical issues (eg where to buy a binder, where to buy shoes and so on). Seperatism makes it many small fights, which is what is needed for some issues. but for some others there's wider issues going on. In particular issues which have already caused people to want wider more collective groups and as foibey pointed out with her history lesson, they always have done too.

To put it succinctly: I have no problem with the subgroups of the transgender umbrella joining forces when it is in their interest to do so. However, I take umbrage when my subgroup's (and therefore my) name is co-opted to represent something that is against our interests by invoking the authority of the transgender umbrella.

I will agree with you on that point, my subgroup is often pulled, along with my name, in argumements that are against my interests and my subgroup's interests.

Fully in agreement with you on this one. Umbrella stuff only works when people from different areas of the umbrella are in agreement it's in their shared interests, and often people act like fools and hijack it as part of a meaningless "inclusivity" agenda that doean't actually have anything to do with everyone having a joint stake in things (*cough*lgbTokenism movement*/cough*).

Exactly and that is when the problems start.
