Great that it went so well, and yah boo sucks to those who tried to sabotage it.

Will definitely show support by getting there sometime next year

And I'll volunteer my girl for being the party spank slut...

Its great that they were so reasonable. I would caution about a verbal nod, from some local authority departments being sufficient. Authorities work on the basis of application/approval not a visual once over on a Saturday afternoon (especially where there is a fee involved, as is the case for building control).

A guide to what needs to be done to make a club/venue legit might be an invaluable resource to the community. I'm not talking about this venue in particular, but covering all of the bases that are potentially relevant (planning, building control, commercial catering/environmental health, requirements for a private members club, licensing - alcohol, entertainment, sex establishment, HMRC) so that venues are better able to reduce the ability of the press/angry locals/whoever from causing problems.

Good sense from someone with a grasp of the nitty-gritty. Part of the licensing requirements will almost certainly be a fire safety certificate (secondary means of escape or 30-minute route and all that) and insurance.

My thoughts exactly, it's taken me nearly a year to get a small project through the council - they argue over trivial details and do have a tendency to spin things out where fees are involved. Planning/Building control are essentially profit centres.

Nonetheless a most encouraging turn of events. Such a contrast to venues such as the Westgate School...

It's a shame.

For all the understandable positive vibes there is clerarly a different perspective - some talk of media attention? For may especially those in significant employment roles that is a killer.

That the police attended raises the profile and in some jobs with deep SC surveillance and validation - that woudl kill not just any current role .. but career.

Why and how are the press alerted - are local residents aware and unhappy?... If this activity sits poorly with the neighbourhood - good people would not wish o be party of that.

If people were eating and a mouse seemingly from the sounds of it was in the proximity of food prep... for all the humour painted and yes it is a baren after all, it is still a mouse by the food prep.

Hope future events go better and the neighbours are not as it seems to read between the lines - unhappy.

AS it is - it sounds a disaster from all perspectives except those who were attendants and thereby and without greater thought - looking and judging it wholly by an inward perspective...

Maybe it's not such a great idea if locals are offended, the press are getting interested in who attends, the police pay visits and rodents are pissing on the pastries.

Good metaphor for what I've just read.

(ETA) It's just been edited, glad to see.

Great news. Hope you get plenty more of it.

I know I'm not local, but I've travelled to go to Dystopia - as did quite a few people from London and more are thinking of joining them. Warrington is placed between 3 motorways. It seems an ideal place for a club to attract a following from outside the town that it's in. Hopefully The Barn will start doing that.

See you next Tuesday

Time after time I hear of local Licensing or police trying to close down events,

But over the years most cases I have found its people talking shit or venues not having there paperwork in order. Talking to a local Licensing offcer in southwark I was told this they dont really care about fetish events they just want your paperwork in order and are also happy to help you get your paperwork in order.

As Councils want the permits fees the more venues with a license the more money they get never feel scared by them.

Yes you may get the odd church goer or local mp that is blinded by there beliefs that will try and block and some do have a good swing with the licensing dept but so long as you keep to the letter of the law Licensing are powerless to stop you. just try taking a case to court if you do your case right there very little they can say really.

Fetish venues dont break any laws so long as there no sex or naked bodys on show. And even then they are happy in some cases to give you a permit for this too at a fee.

Councils are after money I know a Council that owns a gay sauna that also holds a swinger and fetish night there too.

Want good virgin sex? Once in a life time offer.
