Why don't women whistle?
For the last day or so I've been almost incessantly, and possibly rather annoyingly, whistling the last song I heard, (Siouxie And The Banshees-Happy House)....Women don't seem to do that.
Admittedly I had to undergo six weeks of intensive training for my job, (postie), in the art of chirpy whistling, but I've always been a whistler anyway.
I have never ever seen a woman walking down the street whistling. I've heard anecdotal tales of it happening in remote Hebridean islands, but I've always dismissed them as urban myths.
Perhaps you know better?
Yours sincerely

I suspect my whistling is far from in tune. To paraphrase the legendary Eric Morecambe; I whistle all the right notes...Just not necessarily in the right order.
Thanks for clearing up the foist/doesn't confusion. I do that all the time; changing my mind in mid sentence.

Whistling's a good antidepressant for me...Of course, it has the opposite affect on those who have to listen to it.

I do the whole 'shower karaoke' thing where I let rip. Other than that I stick to the whistling.

Ah, but do you do it in public, when you're out for a walk or shopping in Tesco's?
Nothing wrong with out of tune, if there was I'd never whistle again.

I love whistling, but after years of being mocked by my mother for my poor whistling skills, I've given up doing it in public. My Grandfather could whistle for England, it's a hard legacy to live up to. chastity xxx |
