Admin has barred the use of the word cis. I appreciate the support of all the cis queers on IC in opposing this.

Or I would, if you had.

Anyway, to those of you who still think this word is unneccessary, how would it be for you if admin banned the word "heterosexual" because someone said it was offensive? And then suggested "not queer" as a "compromise" solution?

And on theat note, I'm off.

Hi

In groups the word is allowable I think.

The words - as literal terms, for which they were created - cisgendered (ie not transgendered) and cissexual (not transsexual) may be used here - under the same rules as any other label - ie that it's not just being used as an attack.

I don't think any word or term in unnecessary. Language is important and precise words, precisely used have meaning.

I would prefer it to be used as the adjective 'cisgender' as opposed to 'transgender' or 'cissexual' as opposed to 'transsexual', but that's just because I'm pedantic. 'Cis' on its own is just a prefix and fairly meaningless without clarification (which should, surely, be the reason for using any word).

Yes. And even more so "subby" :-D

I think it's not actually banned just some people didn't like being "labelled" as cis, but as general terms cisgender/cissexual are ok.

There was a debate one night in the trans group, this word came up and got used as an insult.Admin step in and stated it must be used in its proper context and not as an insult. Not banned just regulated. :-)
