The abuse on here is mild compared to that dished out on places like popbitch and mumsnet. I have yet to see anyone on here tell another to "go and drink a pint of cancer, you tedious cunt". Some may have thought of posting it.

Somehow, I can't quite picture you on mumsnet..... ;-)

Serous question

After reading a few recent threads on here I have a question....

Are people really quite thin skinned on here or are they just looking to be offended?

Oh dear. I suspect we're going to work our way through the entire Derailing for Dummies list of nasty tactics before this is all over.

I ar serous cat.

This ar serous thread. ***

TBH re that cis thread, I started out not having any opinion at all and now rather feel like kicking up a stink about it purely cos of the ludicrousness of the arguments in it. If that makes me a bitch... ah well :)

EDIT: wait! If we have a label for something we didn't even know we were then it's time for cis pride innit? Special flag? Special symbol?

No?

Course not!

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

Bit of a leading question this one. But Ok then lets go for a counter argument.

My be practioners of BDSM aspire to a level of decency, care and compassion for others that is to a much higher degree than can be found in the outside world and other bits of the internet as well. Maybe, I/we/them/they wish to have a site that reflects this.

Is this a bad thing ? To know that words have power and words have meaning and no matter how Ubber Ruffty Tuffty you might think you are, people name calling, lets say commenting on the size of your ass, does hurt! People can oh so easily be offended. So let not do it,or at least try to do it less and when we see it happen lets point it out, so as to stop it.What is wrong in a higher ideal of discourse ? Arn't BDSMist suposed to "special and diffrent" in some way, I've seen lots of threads suggestin we are.

After all if you really want to be given a hard time, be publicaly humilated you could always out yourself to the Daily Mail, I'm sure they'd be happy to call you alll sorts of nasty names. So please lets all try an play nice?????

That would be nice but it is often shown NOT to be the case. In fact, when you start bringing in things like expectation of "tribute" etc... not to mention screwing each other up over popularity and/or money...

Totally agree. Think the discourse here is pretty mild really.

There's many people here who are special for many reasons but not cos of their sexual inclinations. Of course a lot of people like to delude themselves that they are special...
