My identity's been stolen (42)

Coincidentally, just seen a male sub profile on CM and on here (with same name), blatently using text from one of my weblogs as his profile text - with the wording changed to the sub view point. It's infuriating, but a little sad really that people lack their own originality. Guess you have to pity them.

So I took the photo of myself holding a sign saying stolen photos, clicked on the Stolen Photos link, uploaded the photo, typed in her user name and job done - you don't need to put any justifying text in or anything! By the following evening the profile had gone so I can't fault the service at all....

Oh well, it seemed like a good idea at the time!

There's a good chance these people are scammers. They have to post lots of ads on lots of different types of "dating" sites to get victims for whatever scam ("I need the price of an air fare to visit you" etc) they're leading up to. I expect dreaming up plausible wording to use in subcultures you're not familiar with is quite difficult, especially if you're sat in an internet cafe in Nigeria.

Hmmm, but unless I'm being incredibly thick here - and it has been known - surely that wouldn't work for me as my face isn't really visible in any of the stolen pics.

So I could be anybody saying 'hey these are my pics'.

The poon won't come flocking if you sit and do nothing.

Slightly more bizarre was someone nicking my face pic on a vanilla site and representing it as his own. I only found out when I was accused of having two profiles - as if anyone would be stupid enough to create a duplicate profile with their own picture on. The site were unhelpful, so I deleted my profile. As far as I know, 'I' may still be on there.

In July some time, my CM profile completely disappeared, no-one can see it now apart from me. No, it's not set to hidden. There was nothing in there of any offense at all, pictures were all harmless and I see no reason why I might have been reported, certainly never spammed.

Anyway, to this date, I've had no response from the admin team to help resolve or at least advise why, especially if it was a case of being reported. Easy option, create another profile, but no that doesn't work. Tried new profile from new email address too but still no joy.

It really really bugs me when a site that will have plenty of advertising revenue coming in, does nothing to help out it's users, especially the genuine ones in a site of fakes
