Ok ok before you all flame me, disown me, or in general go “why oh why”, I am just rather curious to the answer for the following question. Not intending to start a big fight or to say that anyone's kink is wrong so please don't get all shirty with me! Here goes: Whilst reading another thread about placement of a slave number tattoo the thought about whether, given 20th century history regarding prisoner number tattoos, it's politically correct to tattoo slave numbers on our bodies? Do you think that, although you are right to be proud to be a slave for someone and that you have freely consented in doing so, the identification of your numbers tattooed on your body associate you with the non-consensual markings of minority groups? That non M/s people won't understand the difference and be offended? Or whether it's not something you've ever thought about? As I said, just curious about how these tattoos may be viewed in general so pleeeease don't take offense! (ps @ToakReon and @Ianneil et al, sarcastic comments will be as usual enjoyed and laughed at though am interested in your honest opinions too!) Oh and I really haven't a clue if this is the right board to post this on! lily

I can think of nothing more hideous or inept than a bar code tattoo. Hideous Hideous Stupid Idea for idiots why? because it's senseless because you can't scan it and go beep because someone else thought of the concept because it's just far more honest to have a number because it's just so unimaginative If you are going to deface yourself, do it large, but whatever you do, MAKE IT ORIGINAL for God's sake! defaced synd http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/pictures/syndee...

Oh I'm not going to have a tattoo at all. Was just curious after reading another thread the opinions of this particular type of tattoo and the representation that in mainstream knowledge it may make. lily

That's not very nice. I don't have either barcode or number, but wouldn't be opposed to either and certainly not for PC reasons. Either could be explained away as something else completely to anyone it might offend. The very word 'slave' could offend people, so chances are you wouldn't go showing it or explaining it to people who might be. If someone did get offended, then you could explain the difference between consensual and non-consensual slavery and what it means to you to class yourself as a slave. x Ferris Bueller, you're my hero!

Looks cool on Max in Dark Angel though. It would be so cool if they did beep, hours of endless fun at the Tesco self-service till!

You're always so pretentiously desperate to appear edgy by knocking other people, and yet your tattoo looks like something designed by a five year old (and no, I wasn't going to say anything, but since you'd started ...) You should chill out a bit and stop working at this impression you're trying to create. :T: Edited 5 Nov 10, 3:21 PM by Tanos

More to the point, whether to subjugate yourself to other people's political correctness in the first place. :T:

Crikey, nothing at all? I'm sure, if I really thought long and hard about it, I could probably come up with something more hideous or inept than a barcode tattoo....Jeremy Kyle, Alan Sugar, stubbing a toe, drizzle...

I don't care for the barcode myself, aesthetically - but I can see the point of it. It is not a statement that you are owned by X but a statemnt that one is prepared to be owned, or owned, or used to be owned - by whomsoever you choose to be owned by. It's transferable, it's distinctive, it's - if taken from TSR, unique and yours. My goal - to save women from nature (Dior) |
