This thread wil no doubt be an 'armchair psychologist thread' maybe to no useful end but for me the best portrayals of Adolf Hitler were by Dear old Spike Milligan. A much cleverer man who never hurt anyone. SOS The Titter group - for when you don't feel too serious.

Why must my kink constantly be related to Hitler and the Nazis? I'm sick of this demonization of BDSM. And I bet there's no real evidence to back it up. For god sake, where are the programs about Ghandi enjoying watersports? Churchill being a rubber fetishist? Princess Di's *massive* butt plug collection? I want a documentary on Florence Nightingale saying how the most romantic thing she did in her youth was to put on a strap-on and give her bloke a damn good seeing to. You don't have to be a Nazi to enjoy kinky sex, and no, I don't think it helps either.

The idea that Hitler was a frustrated male sub seems ridculous to me. " I can't get a domme, so I'll invade Poland" There doesn't seem to be any proof of his sexual interests. The S&M rumours appear to part of a anti-Hitler propagands campaign, as if trying to exterminate a whole race of people wasn't bad enough, let's make him a pervert too! All that can be proved is that he chose vulnerable, much younger women for girlfriends who all appeared to worship him and all eventually attempted suicide, which should probably tell anyone who isn't yet convinced of his character that he really wasn't a nice guy. What a surprise!

Nor me. His current groupies zeig heiling in our streets and attacking inncocent people (as in Leicester last weekend) are what concerns me.
Indeed, and why this obsession with Hitler, and the nazis dressed up as "history"? (I don't mean to demean proper historians.) You might have a point with Florence Nightingale, however. Very scary and unpleasant woman, far from the caring, sympathetic figure of the antihistorical myth. She wasn't a nurse and generally treated nurses like shit. Neither did she go round with a lamp at night. She was a statistician and administrator and deserves credit for two things: the founding of medical statistics and kicking the arses of the British military and political establishment very effectively indeed. They were running scared of her. Quite an achievement for a woman in her day.

You don't have to be a sick, twisted and evil person to be fascinated by a genocidal megalomaniac who had a fair crack at taking over the world within living memory. As people, we don't watch mysteries about people who had their toes stubbed, we watch murder mysteries. For a Bond film to have significance the fate of millions of people has to hang in the balance and can we honestly say we'd enjoy the film if the millions weren't at risk? Does that make us all a bit wrong? Not only does every hero need a villain, but there are no shortage of people who are capable of evil in the world we live in today. We cannot fight this by not talking about it, but by standing up and fighting for what is good and right. If we do not understand what is going on around us what hope do we have? I think understanding what makes people behave in abominable ways is actually of paramount importance to us all, lest history repeat itself. I've always been fascinated by Hitler and I've always been intrigued by kink. It seems only natural to share a very interesting program with other people who might likewise find it interesting. If you find talk about Hitler distasteful and think we've learnt the lessons of history (therefore don't need to rehash them or discuss them) then perhaps you should take a look at this: Or consider things like:
If you ask me I think we'd all benefit from a deeper understanding of the more unpleasant parts of history. This signature has been left blank intentionally.

dubya was a sub too? And all men kill the thing they love, By all let this be heard, Some do it with a bitter look, Some with a flattering word, The coward does it with a kiss, The brave man with a sword! |
