Makes a good talking point.. http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/ac60/trussed_... Concrete and rawlbolts work well. I don't use for suspension (although it's been well tested) but they certainly aren't going anywhere.. If you want to disguise it uncsrew the rawlbolt eye and affix a smoke detector over the threaded hole with sticky pads.

Concealing ceiling hooks, is there any difference to
concealing sealing wax? Oh the quirks of the English language. Supplier of classic motor omnibuses for weddings and all sorts of events in the south of England.

I have them on the ceiling too no-one ever looks up or mentions them. They are very near the lights rather than in the middle of nowhere.

use ceiling sockets instead - bit like a rawlplug but threaded on the inside for a bolt. Find a bolt/thread ended hook and it can be removed/replace easily. Hole can be filled with a plastic bolt/stopper when not in use. You might have to sink the sockets in flush with the plaster surface. Or find the joists in the ceiling and cap the top of the joist with a captive nut. I helped a friend of mine a few years back to do this - you need to set the captive nut/washer from the top so it means taking up the boards above, but once done it gives a neat finish underneath with the smallest of holes that can be easily plugged. Lots of opportunity for smutty humour above - I manfully resisted.

I went into the loft of my bungalow and laid a length of 3x2across four ceiling joists.. Screwed it into position to stop any sideways movement.. Drilled through the middle of it, between the joists, and attached a short length of chain.. poked a hole through the plasterboard just big enough to allow a couple of links to drop through, then gutted a smoke alarm and fitted it over the hole.. Voila... Remove smoke alarm, chain drops, clip on trapeze or whatever and away you go.. Easily takes whole body weight (even two on one memorable occasion)
