'pretentious' implies that a person pretends knowledge or experience they don't have and boast annoying about it - so they may have pretentions to grandeur. 'presumptous' implies that the person in some way assumes something they have no right to, for example assuming they are invited to a party when not. Neither of these traits , I think, are common to young women in particular, you find them in all age groups. I for example, often find male doms presumptuous when they memo me asking what day we can meet before we are introduced.

What is true about young women on the scene (and I am not assuming this was the op's thought process) is that they are a desirable minority with a lot of choice in play partners which means they are confident and don't suffer fools gladly. It is possible to mistake this rather nice attribute for either of the two original ones. And I personally prefer people with confidence, as long as it is expressedin a pleasant way and not an unpleasant one.

On a serious note though, some of us are career driven, hard working, down to earth, family women.

I am down to earth, view lies and pretence as a waste of the short life we're given, responsible, honest and helpful.

I wear too much makeup and have a serious hairspray addiction but I'm not so far up myself that I've never seen daylight.

I have wonderful friends who trust me implicitly and my Mum is very proud of me so I know I'm making the right choices...

Take your blinkers off and don't tar us all with the same brush - I understand your opinion, but such a sweeping statement hides the lovely young women that ARE out there under a layer of your jaded tar :/

I think if any form of psychological observation can be made from this place (and indeed the scene) it is the ability of so many people to be deluded about themselves. In various ways.

There's a growing movement to include 'doesn't know what she's missing' in the pantheon of elites already mentioned, but this tends to be defeated by the fact the girl in question has a very good idea of what she's missing and what she's missing has no appeal to her anyway.
