Wow, the level some people are prepared to go to really does amaze me.

I've heard negatives about dystopia, but I've heard a hell of a lot more positives. Which I'm learning happens with every club on the scene, sadly you do have to learn how to spot the real negatives from the outright slander that goes on, as the number of people with personal agendas is quite honestly downright shocking.

I know we were desperate to get along and if it hadn't been for some personal stuff that had to be dealt with, then you'd have had two more people attending, despite whatever rumours someone is trying to throw around, because at the end of the day a quality event is always going to speak for itself with the numbers.

Christ. That's just awful. What a bitter piece of excrement they must be.

And again, I didn't make it, despite half-making a costume. One day I will have the money and time...

I attended my first Dystopia last weekend. I had a fantastic time and I'm very glad to hear it will be continuing.

Can I ask why you're sure it's a member of IC rather than, perhaps, a disapproving local resident or member of the church next door? It's not like anything on here is secret. Or perhaps you have some idea who it might be?

Nothing here

They were the words used by the police.

I've just received an email (not an IC memo) from a scene friend in the NW asking if I was aware that a rumour was going around that I'm the person who tried to sabotage Dystopia.

I'd just like to state for the record that it wasn't me.

I've just trawled through this thread and, as a former organiser of the Chester Munch, I agree with other posters that calling in the cops to try and trash an event is really scraping the barrel. People who work for the scene work hard to put events on, from the smallest munch to the biggest party night.

I don't know the organisers of Dystopia so have no beef of any sort with them. Indeed, I've barely attended anything at all on the Manchester scene in the last 5 years. I went to Manchester Munch twice last year, once this year in, I think, February. And no clubs at all since 2005, apart from when I went to RUN 2 in November last year but that was on behalf of Skin Two so it was work for me.

It's no secret I'm not too enamoured of the local munch scene at present but that's a long way off being spiteful enough to attack a club night I've not even the remotest connections with.

Whoever it was, it wasn't me and I'll thank people not to spread that rumour any further.

First I've heard of it! I have no idea who it was and I don't think anyone should be starting the rumour mill without evidence.

How completely appalling. I can't believe anyone would be so shallow and spiteful to do such a thing.

I am incredibly proud of the way Miss Despotic (who I don't know) and her team handled such a difficult situation, showing the police that we have nothing to hide. If it was me organising the event, I know the temptation to give up at that point would have been incredibly strong. By being so open with the police, you have boosted your credibility as an organiser immeasurably with the result that this pathetic individual can cause you no harm in the future.

Best of luck with organising the next one, I know I'll make a big effort to be there :)

I have phoned round all of my friends, and not a single one has told me about the rumour that it was me. I feel badly let down. Needless to say I will be changing my friends as soon as is practicable, and hopefully will be able to return to this thread with a vigorous denial shortly.

And all men kill the thing they love, By all let this be heard, Some do it with a bitter look, Some with a flattering word, The coward does it with a kiss, The brave man with a sword!
