Well, I may as well make everyone aware of my current situation...
A month ago, I went to visit my father in Brecon. We spent most of the evening at the pub having a chat. I've only recently been getting to know him again so don't feel comfortable enough to crash at his place, therefore, after my first pint at half nine, I was on halves of coke. The liquid, not the lines ![]()
Anyway, on my way home at about 2am, I had a blow out. Whilst waiting for breakdown recovery, I nodded off and was roused by a policeman knocking my window. Next thing I know, I'm being arrested for drunk driving. I spent the night at the station and was charged the following morning. So, turns out that during the evening, the friends of my father who were buying me cokes, weren't just buying me cokes.
I am waiting a special reasons hearing on the 3rd of December, on the proviso that I find the person who did it and they came forward to make a statement as my witness in court, under the assurance that if they made a mistake or didn't know I was driving, they could not be charged with anything. The deadline for informing the court of a witness is Friday. A witness which I don't have. Therefore, unless something drastic happens between now and Friday, the special reasons hearing will be cancelled and I shall be immediately disqualified.
For this reason, attending the various events is about to become a whole lot more difficult and I wanted to make sure that people who noted by absence are aware that it is not for lack of wanting to attend. I've been told that the ban will be around 18 months, hopefully with a reduction to 12 if I can get on a drunk driving course. Until then, I'll be a lot less able to attend events and gatherings.
But please keep in touch via IC or text or email.
Regards, J
