going to see a PD is a luxuary, just like lots of other things. either you find the money or you cut back, like in many other aspects of life. Edinburgh Fringe Munch 15/08/10

Yes, but not to see a PD. Essentials have to be met first. M PS If VAT had not increased then income tax would have had to rise. Space travels in my blood. And there ain't nothing I can do about it.

I think the recession needs to be kept in perspective - unemployment is 7.8% compared to 5% 5 years ago, and the increase in VAT rate, which isn't yet in effect, is 2.5%. Those are important figures if you're unlucky enough to lose your job, but the vast majority of people who had enough disposable income to visit a pro-domme a year ago will stay be able to do so today, won't they?

I think those figures don't tell the whole story. Many people have less secure employment, fewer hours, poorer pay rises, heavier workload / expectations as employers take advantage of the market conditions, less overtime and so on. Many self-employed, small businesses etc have far less business. And many people have lost employment but are not on benefits. I personally have a third of the gross pay that I had 2 years ago, supplemented by bits of casual earnings. Ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est. http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/posts/226772/ |
