Please to recommend me the vilest, most wretchedly horrible films you've ever seen. Quality appreciated (for my own sanity), but not a necessity.
Thanks, IC!

I watched Mission to Mars last night and it was pretty vile. But I expect not in the way you're after. Sorry to be facetious. Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read. ~ Groucho Marx

"I spit on your grave" is one you might want to investigate.

Did you want to be actually scared? If so, I know the scariest film ever made. I gaurantee if you watch it alone, in th edark, you will get up afterwards and say, out loud 'Ha, I'm not frightened. Ha!' as you go round thhe house putting all the lights on. The Haunting, original black and white version.

Whatever happened to Brian de Palma??? He used to be a half-decent filmmaker... "Well-behaved women rarely make history"

Thanks for the recommendations.
I'm really looking for material that elicits feelings of disgust and revulsion in the viewer. It tends to be psychological terror that does it for me in horror flicks (I'm just not squeamish when it comes to violence and gore...) but I'm interested to know which films push people's buttons, and figured ICers might (perhaps over-generalising) be stronger of stomach than your average viewer when it comes to sexual violence/blood/etc. And thus the suggestions more extreme... Does a non-horror film being so repulsively bad count? If so, check out The Room. It's the perfect blend of bad acting, bad writing, bad directing, sexism etc. Most people tend to alternate between utter amusement and sheer disgust when watching it; it would be impossible for anybody to deliberately make such a bad film. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S9Ew3TIeVQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISXiFJS9D5A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Plz-bhcHryc

I've always found Cronenberg's Dead Ringers a thoroughly unpleasant experience.

"Bad Boy Bubby" is quite a grim film that had scenes I found difficult to watch. It was amusing how much the lead role looks like Nick Cave though. "Love is dead. It was acquired in a hostile takeover by Hallmark & Disney, homegenised, then sold off piece by piece." L Simpson

Agreed, although much as I love the film it makes me feel much more...upset than uncomfortable. 'Visitor Q' had me wrinkling my nose. "When you're going through hell, keep going."

It all went downhill after Carlito's Way. The worst (in possibly every way) film I've seen is Broken, an independent British flick. I imagine the entire budget (possibly a screwed-up twenty) went on the effects and they did pretty well with it. I didn't think it was possible, but it's on the IMDB - http://imdb.to/5nwbo7 - and DVD - http://amzn.to/c8l5Y7. I don't mean this in a bad way, but genetically you are a cul-de-sac.
