If we are allowed things that can't actually break down, but we'd be lost without, then i too would not be able to be without my blanket that Master gave me, or my necklace which is my unofficial collar. Life would go on, i know that, but i would not be able to function as normal....these things are essential to my well being not just as a slave, but as a human being too....

Hmm, just re-read the original premise. Maybe the cat doesn't quite qualify. Ok then, seriously, the water heating. The boiler broke several times over the summer and the choice between being skanky/cold shower/coldish flannel wash in a non-heated bathroom is something I have come to dread.

I'll be looking at another narrowboat on Thursday. Talking to my ex and his ex who lived on one for three years (my fault it was, as well), once he had exhausted the usual list of start the engine - no blue smoke, check the bilges, check the blah-blah-blah (gawd help me on Thursday, I can't remember half of what he said) the one thing he and the lovely lady both could not stress enough was heating and a decent shower.

Yayy for modern conveniences. Or a line of several slaves to bring you hot water in buckets and scrub your back.
