How since I changed my name and my profile, I have stopped getting even the occasional random wanky memo from blokes who want to piss on me without even saying hello first (you know the kind of thing.....). Please note I am NOT complaining about this state of affairs in the slightest, I am quite content that the only memos and messages I now receive are from people I actually want to communicate with

A salient lesson perhaps for others. Howevere, I suspect that has more to do with the fact that you removed your gender, turned the advert off, and have a correspondingly reduced posting frequency.

The ad has been off for a long time (about 2 years I think since it was last on). Removing the gender I think definitely played a part though. I have observed during my time on IC that posting on certain subjects - watersports particularly - seems to attract a flurry of wanky memos whether or not one has one's ad switched on, yet even those have dried up (pardon the pun!).
