Hi, I need some advice please, if anyone can help! Somewhere on here ages ago I saw advice on how to embed a picture onto a thread. Have been really busy the last two days in Lodnon and am back to work tomorrow. Also been busy organising stuff to do with organising the Peterborough munch. Otherwise I'd sit and figure out how to do this. Anyway, would anyone be kind enough to quickly post instructions on how to create a link/embed a picture? Please.. Regards, TheMunchSlut

http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/about/ICcode Scroll down to 'Pictures'. Of course we're crazy sometimes; of course we're silly lots of the time. How else could we endure living in this world and keep some sanity? Go out on the Earth at night, just look upwards and you see the Universe!

Yes, ICcode mentions the {picture=NNNNNN} or {picture=NNNNNN size} directive to embed pictures in text which will embed a picture in "Run of Page" but not give you much artistic control - note change '{}' to '[]' to form the directive for real. However for a bit more control enclose the picture directive in a quotes.
So, here is a picture directive, unsized, directive starts here >>
The NNNNNN of the picture is its unique number, so it doesn't matter which profile the picture's been uploaded to; just get its number and put it in the {picture=NNNNNN } directive. To get a picture's number mouse over it and look at its URL of the form ic/pictures/profile-name/NNNNNN.html or sometimes ic/pictures/profile-name/NNNNNN.0 These pictures used here are from the first page of Top Pictures "Fork handles?" "No, not 'fork handles' ... four candles."

Does that mean the pic would be posted and appear without being rated or approved? Sorry if you think thats obvious or a stupid question.
If your opinion of me is based on what others have told you, then your mind is but a shadow and the opinion has no value.

Thanks to all for the advice - your help has been much appreciated. It was a great method to help to publicise the rendezvous for The BeerFest Munch on Peterborough (Shameless plug, eh??). TMS

Surely this is a bit worrying? you should only be able to put your own pictures into your own profile or replies. A case of photo theft as you could set a profile up with no uploaded pics but plenty embedded on the profile instead?

Why do some pictures overlap the text when imbedded in a post and is there any remedy? Regards, Maz. Enjoyer of Niche Pleasures.

You can only have one of your own pictures set as the picture representing your profile as the mechanism to do it is a button shown next to each picture you've uploaded into your profile. (When looking at pictures in other people's profiles no such button is shown.)
This procedure is detailed as the last headed item on:
In text (eg replies, memos, posts, weblogs) you use the '[' picture = NNNNNN ']' directive to include (embed) a photo and you could explicitly attribute the source of the photo if it isn't yours as a matter of courtesy, but there's no rule that says you have to. However if you mouse-over an embedded photo and look at its URL you'll see where the photo actually comes from in the form: ic/pictures/<profile name>/NNNNNN.html meaning that your use of someone else's photo is not disguised or hidden either. An explicit attribution would simply bring that profile-name information to everyone's attention instead. Novices_R_Us :: knot toys, butt novices

Ultimately the bit of software displaying IC's pages to you is your browser on your bit of kit. It'd be a question of isolating the page-coding (ie IC's responsibility) from page rendering (ie your setup's responsibility). If you pointed everyone towards an example of where this occurs for you other people could also look at it and see if it's a common phenomenon occurring for them as well or something unique to your goodself or a subset of browsers/hardware only.
