For me, I think marriage can so often be for reasons other than a personal commitment, be it to appease family, for "appearances", because that's what happens or for the simplicity of the legal process, though I should hasten to add that those reasons can be very compelling at the time. A collaring though with its only real value and understanding existing between the two people involved is a more intimate and personal decision, the social pressures, group norms don't play such a large part in the decision. soph
