Restoring my faith in human nature (12)

Posted by beady on Thu 12 Aug 10, 1:13 AM to beady's blog.

I went out tonight to my first public event in a good few months (the wonderfully cordial, yet thoroughly debauched, St. Leonard's munch).

I hadn't been out and about on the public scene for a while due to health reasons, but the amazing thing was that it felt like I'd never been away. I was genuinely moved by the warmth and compassion I was shown, and when folks hugged me and said "welcome back, we missed you", I knew that they weren't mere platitudes. It really meant a lot to me.

Shucks, I'm not good at this mushy stuff. Suffice to say, a big thank you to everyone who made me feel so at at home again; you know who you are. You've helped to restore this cynical old bugger's faith in human nature a wee bit.

And of course, it's good to be back :-D

Beads.

I am glad to here your getting about after your illness. There's some really nice people about and it is always nice to read how well folk have been treated and supported.

Hope all goes well with you...

I have to disagree.

You are good at the 'mushy stuff.'

It's great to have you back.

Big hugs for you

It was so good to see you last night, and you're one of the most huggable people I know, and I thoroughly enjoyed our momentous hugs :)

I, for one, was genuinely delighted that you ventured out, and you do have a lovely soft and mushy side, us tactile people do ;) :)

Glad you had a good time, and I hope you'll be there at the next one.

Yes, simplicity/wibwibwibwibwib (I never knew quite when to stop!) hugs are luvverly, and I enjoyed them greatly :)

Indeed I plan to be at the next munch - in fact I'm planning to get out more and more now. Pretty soon everyone'll be begging me to stay at home again ;-)

My one regret is that I'll probably never actually get to violate you ... :-D

Oh, that reminds me of another song to add to your playlist - Afterhours by Covenant - it has a line in the chorus of "I want to violate you, I want you to hurt me again" :)

Ohhhhh, I like those words ;) You mentioned so many bands that I've never heard of. It's time to be educated me thinks ;)

Thank you :)

Heh. I'll even put album notes along with the playlist for you :)

Mind you, I miss the good old days of physically recording mixtapes for friends. Somehow a burned CD just doesn't have the same romance to it. That's even truer for an mp3 playlist, it just doesn't have soul like mixtapes did.

*goes to put away his Bakerlite 78s and his radiogram* :)
