Putney Munch RULES! | |

It was the first time I had attended the Putney Munch and beforehand I was quiet apprehensive about attending a "London" Munch (London being any postcode with a compass heading in it) following a bad experience at another munch in the Captial. Whilst it was nice to also bump into a number of regulars from my usual munch in Croydon, the moral support was not needed as I had received such a warm welcome from Lin and "Mike the Munch" and their regulars even before my old friends has arrived. [No it's not a comment about a certain person who just turned the big 30]. The warm friendly and approachable feel I experienced means that I look forward to returning again in the future. The venue was very deceptive as it appeared to be a small pub that whilst obviously taken very good care of you did not expect too much character from, it is down a side street but how wrong was I because as soon as I entered the staff were warm and friendly and the place had such a great feel to it and so much character. For someone who is nervous about attending a munch I would say that the surroundings were great as it was full of [good] personalities, it had a comfortable seating area and a garden. The organisers had obviously spent time looking for a great venue in this part of South West London and they have done a remarkable job finding this one. The site mentions public transport but as a driver I was also lucky to park in the road directly outside the pub (one side was free after 1830hrs however it is worth noting that the other side is residents permits) but then if there is no space there was additional parking spaces along the embankment just a 2 minutes walk away. My only regret from the evening was that I did not get to chat with more people as the ones I did get the opportunity to speak to were great and reading the profiles of some of those I spoke to briefly or had pointed out to me look so interesting that I enjoy the thought of a longer conversation but then in the space of a few hours there will always be a limit to the number of people you can talk to but then as I have done at Croydon by then going back again and again you eventually get to catch up with those people. My most sincere thanks to the Organisers, Steph [for the company], and to Captain Jack and Sophia [hope that is the correct spelling] for your recommendation. I look forward to trying some of the other places you also recommended especially after enjoying this one so much. ---- Edited for additional comments. The mind was working to fast to say all the positives of this munch and even now I bet I have missed some. Edited 6 Aug 10, 11:41 PM by Slave_Rob_35

This was also my first time at putney munch. There seem to be some very nice people there. I hope to be a bit more sociable next time!

Mike You are more than welcome to post this review. I felt so welcome at this munch that I am pleased to be quoted in any marketing you want to do. I know how nerving it can be for someone to progress from private thoughts / play to sharing their interest in the lifestyle / community and if this makes it easier for others to cross that line then I will be happy to assist.
