Having done all the research and feeling fairly certain that we had made the right decision we booked our crossing from Dover to Calais well in advance and paid £60 return with P & O. Although the crossings from Portsmouth would take us closer to the French Dungeon the extra cost outweighed the fuel and toll charges from Calais. The excitement meant that I woke at 2am and couldn't get back to sleep so we left home rather earlier than intended. Gale force winds the day before caused the ferries to run late so we caught the one before our booking which left at the time we should have! We took our time, stopping for a light lunch in a small town on the way and arrived about 6 hours after docking.
The directions provided were excellent and we found the B & B easily. It nestles among small fields on the side of a hill overlooking a valley to wooded hills beyond and the most noise heard is the cows calling to each other from field to field. Much time was lost over the week watching the clouds passing by.
We were greeted by our hosts and offered tea or coffee on the veranda before unpacking. B & s are really easy to talk to and the atmosphere they create is relaxed and comfortable. We were shown our room and unpacked. The room was dual aspect looking over the valley at the front and up the field behind we noted the wonderful bedstead and handy anchoring points in the beams of the ceiling and interesting art. We learned later that the pictures are changed depending on the dynamic of the couple staying so we had some lovely images of dominant women. There is also a spacious en-suite bathroom well supplied with hot water. Downstairs in the living room we discovered the coffee table books. I spent hours over the week looking at books on ropes, knots, pony play, deviant desires etc etc. It was a shock to find a cooking magazine lurking amongst them! The books provoked many discussions between us We were introduced to the dungeon which is cunningly disguised in a large workshop. It is difficult not to smile when shown 2 electric hoists, a couple of whipping benches, a cross, a rack, a device to upend your sub and another to spin them, a strap cage and a number of other useful items including lots of clips and various stingy, thuddy, smacky things. The music system was ideal with a very good choice of music to play by. Many happy hours passed here either playing or benefitting from a demonstration by our hosts. With their help over the week I was shown a number of ways to suspend my pet and also to cocoon him in pallet wrap. Once he was suitably disarmed they discretely withdrew leaving us to play.
The first night we didn't dress for dinner as I was just too tired but I regretted that decision, the meal was worthy of respect. When planning the stay we thought long and hard about how many evening meals to have and I was delighted that we had chosen to have 7. The theme for the week was a “taste of France” and by half way through the week I was running out of superlatives to describe each new dish. B & s both enjoy cooking and excelled themselves with the wonderful food that came out of the kitchen. Amazing amuse bouche (which I never managed to guess right) French onion soup, mushroom risotto, bloody Mary sorbet, calvados sorbet, Mediterranean lamb, Breton chicken, venison, duck, trout, crème brulee, panna cotta and ice creams wickedly laced with alcohol were just some of the dishes that we had the pleasure of during the week. I was delighted that the portions were the perfect size for me and was yet again in awe of the attention to detail when they said that the food and quantities are chosen to be appropriate for the dominant.
After dinner we talked. I had no idea how wonderful it would be to be able to talk openly about the pervy things we like doing and would like to do. Master is very perceptive and challenged us to think about our limits and the reasons for them in a gentle way. He seems so kind and benign……. Until he smiles in his particularly wicked way! His “research” DVDs were undoubtedly an eye opener and definitely proved where our limits are. One danger is that you get so used to discussing BDSM that you may well find that the English people at the table next to yours in the café at Le Mont St Michel will raise an eyebrow when the words “strap-on” cross your lips.
This place is located in a very pretty part of rural France. There are lots of sightseeing, walking, rambling and shopping opportunities which we clearly did not even begin to explore. The driving is easy, on what for us, are very quiet roads and the area also has a lot of Historical buildings and sites to visit.
We tried many new (for us) things and learned a lot about what I can inflict and what my pet can accept in a safe, relaxing environment with the guidance of two very special people. Their attention to detail is awesome and meant that we had a wonderful holiday as well as an education. The care, attention and thought that has gone into the facilities and accommodation on offer here is truly wonderful. It is easy to see how both novices and experienced players could easily do/find what they want and most would find this the perfect environment to live out any fantasy. B &s are wonderful considerate hosts with a lot of experience and a clear desire to give you the Holiday of your dreams. I really, really did not want to come home and we will definitely go back again. (some pictures will eventually appear on my profile... I hope!)
