If our police spent less time dropping Paul Gascoine off for a riverside picnic with Raul Moat and more time persecuting this 'I think you mean' guy, maybe we wouldn't be in the state we're in. But at the moment, we are.
A very sorry state of affairs, indeed.
And it hasn't escaped my notice that my local MP has remained tellingly silent throughout.

It's Raoul, not Raul. Get it right, or I'll be breaking out the method of entry kit to smash your front door in and arresting everyone in your town for your lack of current buns.

Hey, hey hey! Woah there!
A simple 'I think you mean' memo sent to everyone in my network would have sufficed. And perhaps one on the main boards and a telegram to my wife.
But dawn raids? That's excessive.

I downloaded the en-gb dictionary for firefox and set my browser to auto spell check. If I can't spell something I type it into the google search bar and google provides me with the correct spelling.
I don't send nit-picking memos or pick at people's spelling but I like to try to get mine right most of the time.
That is how I do it, like that, using my browser, it's very quick and simple. "I am not an atomic playboy" - Vice Admiral W.H.R. Blandy Commander of the Bikini Test

It is akin to memoing someone with cerebral palsy: 'Just to let you know that you were walking wrong at the Munch the other night'. Dyslexia and dyspraxia are neurological disorders. People who have had to struggle through life (school is hell as even today their problems still go unrecognised) because they can't fit into the 'norm' for the written word do not need unsolicited memos.
As to the group leader, I don't think he is aware that he is doing wrong but I cannot fathom why he refuses to accept that people are becoming upset and angry. Previously he posted things for all to see, now he is attempting to be subtle in memoing. It is not 'normal' social behaviour, even on the internet. |

Dawn raids? Are you mental? I'd need to get up early.
11am at the earliest. As long as I can get finished before lunch.
Tell you what, how about you memo me when is convenient. I wouldn't want to disturb you if you've got family round. Or you're watching a favourite film on telly. But not this week. I'm busy.

Eugh sorry.
I sometimes think people who did this kind of thing should be forced to go out in public and say the same sort of things to people in person.

Sounds perfect to me. You don't want to catch me in the middle of anything illegal- that would be awkward.
I'll let you know when it's a convenient time for you to burst in unannounced.

Thanks. We'll text just before we arrive, so you can stick the kettle on. I'll have a coffee, with milk and two sugars.

I think my original post (which was written in anger) was possibly a little bit self pitying on the dyslexia front, yes I have problems with grammar, but I'm also about to start an English degree so clearly every day isn't a battle with writing. Regardless of a persons ability to spell, it's about a right to choose (and isn't this website about having the right to choose?) I choose to use the common parlance of "semantics" for instance. That doesn't mean that I'm right or a I'm wrong, but what I choose to say is mine and I'm not looking for patronising so called "help".
The other thing that annoys me is the group's claims that the point is so that their nitpicking doesn't clog up original threads. You know what else would help not clog up threads? Keeping your opinions to yourself. Don't pay any attention to what the write about you, just measure it in inches. Andy Warhol
