This is kind of like me coming out of the geek closet and it isn't easy knowing that I'm stepping out into a world of misunderstanding and derision; it may be difficult for some of you to accept, but I can live a lie no longer. I, unruly boy, am a Warhammer player.

That's right, Warhammer Fantasy Battles has been something I have known was part of me since I was a boy. I have tried to deny it, tried to run away from it for too long. But today, Saturday 10th July 2010 is the day that the 8th edition of the Warhammer rules are officially published and on this day I thought I should stop suffering in silence and to stand up and be proud of who I am and what I do.

I want to know if there are any other players out there on these boards and if there are any other players out there in London who would be up for a few friendly games to try things out under the new rules just as soon as I get my hands on them. My dwarfs and I will take you on!

If you're interested but don't have an army of your own, I'm going to be getting the new box set when it comes out in September, so you can still join in the joy with the small armies included in that.

If you're not in London, or none of that appeals to you, but you want to stand up and be proud of your own miniature geekery or just want to support your fellow nerd then please, join me in this post. Together we can make this a freer, less repressed and more fun world. I thank you.

Wait, they're up to eight? That means I missed seven completely.

Science: it's not purely for blowing stuff up. That's just the fun part that you get to do afterwards.

I bought the boyfriend the Collectors Version for his Birthday yesterday. Very nice it is too!

(Loving the new changeling demon on the GW website today, just what my demon army needs!)

More a 40K guy, still good excuse to get the army finally moved up from Devon lol

It is not a case of finding the lifestyle or the lifestyle finding you, but realising the lifestyle is within you and letting it out!

Well, I guess it's kind of a slow topic, looks like I might have to draw on a slightly larger pool to get some players together, but thanks to you geeky generals for chipping in.

Yeah, we're up to 8 already and it's starting to look like a pretty good version. I think I started in the last days of 4 and missed 6 completely. Came back to it this year and am totally loving it when I get the time to do anything and the opposition to play.

I was drawn to the collectors edition, but decided my back probably couldn't take lifting it. There do seem to be a few nice deamon models turning up at the moment. If I weren't so keen on good guys I might be tempted :-p

I used to have a pretty substantial Chaos horde for 40K. I can't remember the last time they saw the light of day but I am getting all nostalgic now I've been reminded about them.

Futuristic floats my boat more than fantasy but I'll give it a go if I can borrow an army (and a noob general isn't going to be too much of a pushover).

You didn't miss much.

Eight seems better so far though.
