I just got home from a week away visiting family. My adult son lives here with me and stayed home to look after the house and animals. He had not seen one of our cats since before we left for our trip last Thursday and he got home from work today to find her head, no body, just the head sitting in the middle of the drive way, facing the road, with her collar next to it! We are shell shocked and upset and just can't believe it could be an accident. This year has not been the best so far!!!

I don't think you are paranoid at all and as far as the incident with the cat is concerned someone who is very nasty has some nasty ideas.
A chat with the local police is very defiately in order and quite quickly. This is a clear threat to you and your home/household. Don't look at me for the answer, I'm too busy thinking up the questions. I used to be a Socialist, then I grew up and became a cynic |

I agree, do go to the Police. It may be that cats are not considered to be property in law, nor their lives considered valuable by society where you live, but I think you need to see some action from the Police, since the person responsible may well be dangerous to you, your son, & any other family members, or friends who may visit. It does sound spookily like a warning from some lunatic. If you're in Spain, maybe talking to someone at the British Consulate, or Embassy might be a good idea? If they in turn were to speak to the Police, it might help it to be taken seriously, & no, I don't think you are being paranoid.. |

What a truly dreadful experience. Absolutely understandable to get feelings that it could be someone who has targeted you personally but its far more likely that the trespasser was acting totally on whatever sick impusle causes such an atrocity. |

You may well be right Thighs Sir and thanks for your comments. We're all OK and keeping our ears and eyes open, but won't let this change the way we live, much as it is tempting to stay home and become reclusive lol!!! ''Nil Carborundum Illegitimo'' --- ''Don't let the bastards grind you down'' is my new motto!!!!!
