Does London need another pub based Munch? (6)

As many of you will know, the STudio, home to the West London Munch -and many other great events-, will be closing it's doors at the end of July. So the WLM on 09th July will be our last at the venue and then we are homeless.

The WLM crew have been having a good search to see if we can find a new venue of a similar style to hold our event, and the outcome is not positive. :-( Especially if we want to continue running on a Friday evening.

We've looked at a lot of pubs to find somewhere that has a private room we can book, so at least we have some privacy and can get away with fetish dress and very subtle play, and sadly anything ½ way decent is either not available on a Friday night, or tends to have some charges involved (room hire charge or very high minimum bar spend that I don't think we'll meet) or doesn't have good public transport links and have poor parking facilities. (Yes I know I'm picky, but it's my money being paid out)

If anyone knows of any venues they think might be suitable (and cheap) in the west London area, please feel free to let us know.

So my question is this: If we do go ahead and book a room at a pub somewhere, to continue the munch on a different level are people going to support it? Or do we retire the munch until the time when we can find a venue to run something in the same vein as we do now?

And before anyone starts up in arms accusing me of slating 'regular' munches, don't bother, because I'm not trying to do that. I like munches in pubs, and I frequent them, but the simple fact is, the WLM was different.

Edited to add: There are 3 pubs i'm looking at seriously, 1 is in Shepherds bush, 1 is Shepherds Bush/West Kensington and the 3rd is in Acton.

I loved the WLM as it was, but for me, the important thing was the atmosphere/people, not the capacity to have demos etc.

I'd continue supporting the WLM if it went to a pub, because it's handy, I love the people, and I enjoy it.

The other London munches aren't quite the same...they're either much further away, or really maniacally busy, (or both), or aimed at a group I'm not a part of.

So, if it goes to a vote, my vote would be to keep it going, and perhaps let it evolve into something new, but I'll also understand completely if it doesn't! :)

For the record, and just as a thought...if it meant it would work, I'd be happy to provide a reasonable contribution towards the room hire, if that meant we could continue more as we are? Perhaps do the collection a week in advance, so you had an idea of whether you'd make enough to cover the cost (so we pay on the day we attend, but what we pay goes in the kitty for the next week, does that make sense??)

I've only been a couple of times, but the W London is one of the few local(ish) munches I can attend.

Being in the west, just off the M4, is sort of important to me, but being on a friday or saturday night is essential. Im not worried about dressing up, demos etc, just the chance to try interacting.

There's definitely a need for a munch in the West of London and I will help with it where I can. I agree with Epona's suggestion that entry is paid for a month in advance, though what you do about non regulars I'm not sure.

Would you get a better deal if you were able to bring along other events currently at the Studio like Peer Rope and the spanking events?

What about LGBT venues around Earl's Court?

Acton ...have just moved out from there... is it the King's Head on the High Street you were thinking of?

How about the Trinity in Harrow on the Hill? Its a small ,alternative pub but does have some space upstairs , although having said that , think they may have some club nights on fridays... maybe worth a look?

As with other people, it was the atmosphere and the people that were important to me, not the demo's so i say a resounding YES there is a need for a W London munch. I'd also be willing to pay for it

I vote for Acton :-)

I think what makes the WLM is the people although the venue was wonderful. I reckon with the 'right' pub (pleeeeeeease not the Trinity!!) that atmosphere would be recreated. I'm a natural optimist!
