I mix and match I dont think you need to spend a fortune but saying that one of my paddles was 70 pounds. But I have made floggers for sod all. The best bit of kit I have I can take every were its pricless, no one has one like it. and though I have lost it now and then, it never fails me, unless I am tiered. But I love my MIND. Why not have glam a sence of fun use ur brain and find things around home and when u can., treat yourself. D/S is all about fun isent it???????

I'm not too bothered by style. I have a mix of the good quality and the cheap improvised stuff. The thing is that they are mine. I chose them or I made them. They do what I want them to do, they have the effect that I want. Some of them are beautiful pieces and some are shitty looking but damn effective. When I am in the heart of a scene with my blood pumping, screams of pain, excitement, how much much it cost or who made it is irrelevant. It just better damn well not come apart. | ||

My cane cost less than a pound made it myself forty years ago built cane with a beautiful through action. I can still bend it into a full circle and it springs back straight as a die. Do agree about the quality aspect though quality lasts cheap stuff doesn't. Just goes to show the same rules apply to DIY......If you are going to do it yourself LEARN TO DO IT PROPERLY.

I can't get the words 'Blue Peter, sticky backed plastic and here's one I made earlier' out of my head. A Dom once came at me with a improvised implement (just after emptying the whole contents of his 'kit' onto the bed to show me all his toys) and my desire to submit to him went out the window. I have to admit, this would kill it for me too, i have spent a fortune building up my 'kit', i have had some rubber items made for me, but they are by a craftsman friend and i contributed towards the materials. But if a Dom came towards me with a cheap nasty hood, i would balk and refuse, certainly where hoods are concerned anyway. spanky things, well they do at least do what they say on the tin, and some don't look too bad either, but rather the M&S quality than tesco's own (as others have mentioned)! Spend out now, save a fortune in the long run has always been taught to me by my dad (bless him). just my opinion however....

Fun, spontaneity and improvisation Himself has a kit worth hundreds. All good quality implements that have stood the test of time and have provided many lasting memories (and marks) BUT .... Taking me by surprise in the kitchen and using the nearest "toy" aka a spatula ? Deciding that the 99p rubber chicken dog toy is a "must have" because of the squeak it makes every time it hits my ass ? Feeling the need to play while in PJ's ? What is wrong with using cheap stuff or not dripping from head to toe in leather and latex ? Give me someone that has the imagination to make me fly given any "toy" to hand and is focused on the experience ... and I will happily take them over someone more concerned about their "style" or cost. For me this is all about each individual moment. Anything else is just an accessory for a means to an end. And if those marks come from a £300 single tail or a 99p wooden spoon I really so not care ... because they are the result of a meaningful connection and THAT is what is important.
