They're in a heap, been rained on. I'll check them out. Pretty sure it's hazel, there's a Japanese corkscrew spliced onto it. Let me google .... .... yup, looks like a hazel. Edited 15 Jun 10, 12:10 PM by Peccavi

birch, hazel...twigs what a load of old twaddle, without a doubt branches cut from Ginkgo Dissecta are the plants that can be used to inflict corporal punishment, anything else is well just for beginers and amateurs!

Willow presumably is another good one... not that I want to encourage..ouch.... Visions of peopl leading subs out into forests and if they don't know their willows from their birches to their hazels beating them for it. My parents taught us the names of plants etc. I hope IC posters try to for their children too. You never know when it will come in useful.

I got a nice birch bundle from Jacks Floggers @jackthecat.
Completely different sensation to any other, sort of scratchy stingy. Very yummy indeed Kitty "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." Anais Nin

He very graciously contacted me and sent me a picture of his birch bundles - they do look fab and I'll definitely try to pick one up if I am going past the LAM or BBB at all. subbie xxx

Birching is yummy - especially if you have to make the birch yourself first as we did at an event I attended earlier this year. It's quite a different sensation to other implements as it's very stingy and sort of builds up. The worst bit is stray twigs wrapping or hitting a bit high/low but overall is a lovely implement. Not one for doing too often though as it can break the skin. I shall now drift off into some happy memories! “I'm no angel, but I've spread my wings a bit.” Mae West
