I am a trained nurse and this makes me little Miss Health And Safety with regards to some things so I'm wondering what the other Ladies think about how far I should take that. I'm thinking of doing BP and pulse obs before a session, it can be incorporated into the play. Obviously they would be slightly raised due to anticipation, I'd take account of that. Anyone?

BP and pulse obs are greatly received by those into the medical fetish, I do them myself, but not so by others. They'd probably think you were being a bit patronising and it would turn them right off.

Plus is there any reason to do it? If they had a high or low BP would you refuse play? If not, why bother? Do you do particularly risky play such as extreme breath control? Do you use poppers? If you do it may be worth doing it for your own peace of mind. I've refused poppers to someone who registered with low BP and it didn't go down well at all. Tough for him, obviously, but you have to know how you would handle such a situation.

Then where does it all end? Family history of illness? Weight check? Cholesterol?

I love medical play and agree that it would be great to do BP and pulse readings. It would be even better to be wired up as one lies on the table and sees the effect different techniques have on heart rate and so on. My exercise bike provides that info so I think it should be de riguer for medical play..

It would be a waste of time, for Mine, I know their pulses would be racing anyway :)

Being a trained Nurse you should know that this would be pritty pontless as so many different factors to take into consideration not to mention the obvious that youve already mentioned.

Unless its for part of your scene I dont see the need but do commend you on showing such interest in your clients.

Im guessing but being so H&S aware you probably screen your clients beforehand so why do you feel the need for BP as an additional precaution during play unless as Ive mentioned its purely roleplay?

I worked in the Fitness Industry for 7 years and trained pro-athletes, unless I was aware of a certain medical condition BP wasnt something I found necessary but I did use it after my sessions as an additional form of monitoring recovery so maybe this is something you could use as an addition to aftercare :)

If H&S is realy that important to you maybe a heart rate monitor would be a better thing to use as you can tailor the session to increase and decrease when you feel the need.

edited to add: and charge extra for giving them a workout ;)

Darling, I'll bathe your skin, I'll even wash your clothes, Just give me some candy before I go. Oh darling, I'll kiss your eyes and lay you down on your rug, Just give me some candy before I go.

In the interests of science, you have to state your WONT PLAY measurements before embarking. So what are they?

And all men kill the thing they love, By all let this be heard, Some do it with a bitter look, Some with a flattering word, The coward does it with a kiss, The brave man with a sword!

The obvious but clients don't always tell the truth or they think something isn't worth mentioning. I'm not actually planning to demand a full medical, I'm musing and interested in others' thoughts. I'll probably just include my limits on the website and ensure someone making a booking is reminded of same, then do the usual Q&A when then arrive. Fairgrounds don't check for heart conditions or pregnancy, they just put signs up stating certain rides are not recommended. I'm as much interested in my own thooughts on the issue as what to do about it - nurse training can conflict with much of BDSM and I have to find the right balance for myself.

Agreed,

And no matter what is said on here youll make your own choice.

I used to play with a nurse and she ended up spoiling the fun.

You cant account for what clients dont tell you, leave out as you say or think isnt important.

Sure most PD's have had a few sessions where health related issues were raised and even medical professionals called.

At least your qualified :)
