I just wanted to throw this one open to the panel..and please dont shoot me down in flames because Im neither sure if its a good idea or not,but I was just wondering if any PDs had considering abandoning the "traditional" style of charging for their "time" and instead maybe charging by the "item" perhaps carried out in the session,where say bondage attracted a fixed rate,caning a different price and every other aspect at different rates. My thinking is that some things naturally take longer than others,say for example effectively and convincingly crossdressing a sub can take a long time,but a caning could be all over in 5 minutes? Is a new pricing system workable in reality?Or is there another fresh way of doing things?Something to mull over.... | ||

I am conscious of not undercutting others. I have done a caning for half my hourly fee as it did just take a matter of minutes. At the moment I'm getting ready to offer overnight accommodation - not in the dungeon - so that is a different pricing. The main point for me, though, is keeping in line with my colleagues. | ||

Good idea....I could have a price list up in the dungeon, just like they have in the hairdressers.....I might even start to say things like "Been on your holidays yet" as I'm doing a bit of bondage. Thanks for the offer, but I'll pass on the mulling bit.

It's a reasonable question to ask, if you know little about the business so I'm not going to jump down your throat. I'm sure that your pricing system would work quite well for some Mistresses. For me (and I'm sure many other ladies on this board) , it would be completely unfeasable. This is because submissives don't come and see us with a list of activities that must take place within a session - it's not an "off the shelf" service in that sense. No one has ever been to see me for a caning (for example). I specialise in D/s so, whilst activities of course occur within session, they're not really what is being paid for.... an hour (or so) of Domination is what is being paid for. Most people I see give me a list of their offlimits then relax as I take them on a journey. The shopping list approach (in my experience) doesn't work for many pro Dominas. Hope that makes sense!

Agree with Mistress Susannah. Some PDs do a basic fee for the time and then they add a bit more for watersports, a bit more for strap on, a bit more for bondage, a bit more for...you get the picture? It doesn't work for most clients. Clients don't want to order from a menu and then get what is ordered. Where is the thrill? The excitement? The lack of control? They want to spend time with the Mistress and be subjected to whatever she wants to do. On occasion a PD will offer a 30 min session for basic CP only and often sessions involving more time consuming activities such as bondage or medical are better over at least 90 mins. Breaking down a session into 10 mins for this and 5 mins for that sounds too horrible to even contemplate. I can see what you are all saying-I think realistically the only way you would ever break things down,so to speak,would be for a short sharp caning,and nothing else. I guess the system of charging has worked ok for all this length of time,so it would appear folly to try to change it...nothing wrong with questioning WHY you do things a certain way every now and again though,same as in any walk of life! | ||

WHY we do things a certain way is down to each individual professional Dom/me and their way of working. If you bother to look at Pro websites ( which I suspect you may not of done)you will find that a number offer short CP sessions. Equally those that use a number of consumables in a session will charge that cost on, only to the client that is into that activity. Are you a Pro Domme client, why are you so interested in how Pro business is conducted, are you doing a time and motion study? Your last sentence, re any walk of life...when was the last time you questioned anyone (apart from here) in a profession you know very little about, as to how you think it would be better run as a business.

I refer back to my opening comment-"please dont shoot me down in flames".Im simply trying to encourage healthy debate,Im sure every business takes a good look at itself from time to time to see if they could do things in a better way-this is no different.Im not saying "CHANGE IT" all Im saying is lets debate it on an open forum. Of course its down to the individual,and they will clearly run things how they want to. | ||
