There are very good reasons as to why everything is visible to all and memos disappear after a short period of time: The Data Protection Act. By law you have the right to obtain all information, with a few specific exceptions, held about you by any UK based organisation. The maximum you can be charged for this is a tenner. Admin is saving themselves a lot of work should someone put in a data request, and they do. All the data IC holds about someone is already there, and in most cases put there by the person themselves or their friends. Your friends are a lot worse at keeping your life private than you are. Only a few desperate people start birthday threads about themselves, usually your friends tell the world how to find you out of about 1,000 people. Going by the approximate percentage of people who have a gold star, Admin is not running around in a Ferrari from the income they derive from IC, an off peak bus pass may be more appropriate. Put in a data protection request to Amazon and be prepared to be boggled about how much information they have on you. They know what you are interested in, who your friends are, if you buy them gifts through Amazon, and what they are interested in. The film Erasing David gives you a good idea of what people can find out about you because you have told them about it. http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/posts/230484/4#...
