Barnet Bastille (17)

I don't know if many of the ladies that use this board have visited the Barnet Bastille yet, but the proprietor has told me that he perceives his premises to be under-utilised.

I know for a fact that it's an excellent dungeon, and really an absolute snip at the price, so I am quite surprised that it's not being used more, especially in the current climate.

This is not to decry any of the other excellent establishments in London, by the way, it's just that I don't know of any others in *North* London.

It could be a case of 'use it or lose it'.

We've got to move house at some point; does anyone have a nice place for us to live that's not expensive?
Or a job; I'd be delighted to have one of those a bit more often.

I second that, the place has good vibes, it is well equipped, the guy who runs it is lovely, access to the place is very discrete for those concerned as the entrance is a MOT garage and then into a industrial estate with no tall buildings near that could see onto the premises.

Symbols can never be what it is they represent.

'Thirded'. Come on guys and gals, let's use what we have (and what we have is very economical into the bargain), well appointed, and as comfy as a dungeon should be: a mix of harsh cold steel (and unforgiving wooden things), while the floor is carpeted so chilblains are kept to a minimum. There is an en-suite loo with shower and the owner and guardian is as accommodating as it is possible to be to his customers. Oh and there is a choice of free parking (just like central London?) or public transport by tube or bus. Go for it!

I always have a great time at the Barnet Bastille parties, such a great venue and so friendly and attitude free. I know there are more perverts in North London than have seen the place though, it would be a shame to loose a venue like this because people havn't given it a try

"Use it or lose it?"

Uh?

Sorry - I've never seen such aggressive marketing.

Whilst you may wish to do the place a favour - it's an ok place, fine, not amazing, but a nice space - I think this line is more inclined to put backs up.

The majority of Dommes who post on this board have their own place or rent from places they enjoy.... many London Dommes (if they're investing) will prefer somewhere more central.

I'm sure your intentions are honorable.... but personally, I don't react well to a "use it or lose it" ultimatum - how would you feel if I posted that during a slow period? Maybe the Bastille can invest in some banner rotation on this site...

Never seen such aggressive marketing? don't you watch TV or listen to the radio? or even use google?

If a service or business that I use is failing and it might stop operating I would want to know. I'm sure no one would mind if you state when business is going slow, it's actually helpful for those that expect your not wanting new clients.

The Barnet Bastille should certainly invest in some banner space (which is what I'd call aggressive/active marketing), they should put better info about their location, and event nights should be posted on a new thread (which I'll do for the next one).

I mean no disrespect, but I just don't see your point about 'aggressive marketing', most businesses use subtle suggestive advertising which is much worse then honesty.

Symbols can never be what it is they represent.

My beef isn't with the Bastille - it's with those who are trying to do them a favour.... it's akin to a shop assistant badgering me.... not attractive and instantly puts my back up.

I can only speak personally of course - but it's an instant turn off for me.

I apologise unreservedly for any offence I may inadvertantly have given.

Yeah! But you wouldn't be using it anyway! You've already got premises, have you not?

Personally, I think the OP has got a point. If there is something good cherish it! I imagine it really could close down if no-one uses it. I assume it's a business after all. That's what happens to businesses that aren't used. They close down. Imagine, for example, what would happen if people stopped coming to you!

Do you mean trying to do a favour for the Barnet Bastille or for themselves?

To me it seems like 'they' are making an honest point about the possibility of it closing and especially for those who are local and may not of heard about it. I said 'they' as you stated that you have a 'beef' 'with those who are trying to do them a favour', which in contrast to what I know of motivation within character implies some form of grudge.

By no means am I having a 'poke' at you as an individual, but I have a spitefulness myself, against spitefulness. "here and now boy's, here and now" Theirs no need for anyone to be spiteful in anyway towards anyone in reality. In perspective of a relation between two bodies nothing can be personal, personal belongs only to the individual so although we manifest a 'personal problem' to an external source, the problem originates within our self.

Symbols can never be what it is they represent.

Huh?

There is no spitefulness - I had a problem with the wording of the original post, 'tis all.... and in my view, it's not the best way to gain customers and therefore not the best favour to be doing for the Bastille.

Disagree with my view if you want.... but don't accuse me of spitefulness or problems originating within myself. That's just a bit wierd.
