A cousin of mine had his birthday yesterday in a fantastic location in Hampstead. His first love has always been jazz but needs must and he joined his father's business but has never lost his love of jazz and his drumming. He still practices drumming every day and yesterday for about 4 hours he and his friends played various sets whilst we all chatted - wandered around and ate and drank
Went there with my ex wife and 2 daughters. At some stage they said "We are going for a walk, OK?" They went off then afterwards my younger daughter texted me from the Blackberry she had bought earlier (a story in itself) asking if I could meet them at my car. My elder appeared with a Hobbs bag . They had decided to look round the shops in Hampstead village and she had bought a dress which we put in the boot.
I've spent a lot of time recently in N W London and realise how much I miss my old haunts. I spent the best part of my life in Highgate and "Ham & High" (Hampstead and Highgate ) were a regular part of my life as well as places like Brent Cross etc. Summer Concerts in Kenwood picnicing on the grass listening to music from across the lake (or looking at the Masterpieces hanging on the wall in the Adam's designed interior), strolls across Hampstead Heath , lovely restaurants; fantastic shops .Beautiful clean places on top of Highgate Hill away from the grime of lots of London
Oh well
(Off later to another party - this time in a restaurant)
